New update for Lizard Safeguard PDF security viewer for Apple Mac Date: May 7th 2008
Lizard Safeguard secure PDF viewer was originally developed for the Windows platform and thus the corresponding Mac viewer had a limited range of features. LockLizard have completely redeveloped the secure PDF Mac viewer, producing a new viewer that has the same rendering capabilities and future security functionality of our current Windows viewer.
The updated Mac viewer removes a number of limitations in the previous version, and the following features are now available:
- the file size limit of 12Mb has been increased to 200Mb plus (depending upon system memory);
- the ability to limit the number of views for a document is now available;
- bookmarks are supported;
- hyperlinks are supported;
- the number of times a document may be printed is supported, as well as printing being allowed or disallowed;
- java is no longer an installation requirement.

The new viewer is only available for Mac customers running OSX 10.4 and above, and earlier platforms are no longer supported.
Ongoing Development for Apple Mac
Lizard Safeguard PDF Security for the Mac is still undergoing development to match the security functionality available in the Windows version of the product.
Charles Richmond, LockLizard's product manager, says "we have been working on a new Mac viewer for over a year now, totally redeveloping it from scratch. The new viewer is still undergoing development and we hope that a final Mac viewer will be released in July 2008 with full watermarking and print security functionality."
